My current research, yet at initial phase, is focused on the sanctuary of the Great Gods on the island of Samothrace, one of the most famous mystery cults in Antiquity, only after Eleusis. My investigation includes a multidisciplinary view (i.e. archaeology, philology, History of Religions) to comprehend this very obscure cult, which even expanded through different parts of the Aegean.
The research project I am in, OMEGA “omnipotens: Manufacturing and Empowering Gods in Greco-roman Antiquity” aims to focus on the mechanisms and strategies employed to enhance and articulate the divine power, such as grouping, anonymity or human´ epithets transposition for example. Thus, my investigation seeks this perspective attempting to find answers or ideas to this mysterious cult, which has continuously intrigued scholars.
